Don’t drink that dirty water!

Water conditioners vs. Water softeners: Which is Better?  How many of you fight with water spots on your dishes, car, showerheads/and enclosures?  this is caused by Hard Water.  The US Geological Survey states that around 85% of US households live with hard water.  One would think that all water is soft until you jump off the high diving board! (not so soft).  I think we all can recognize the picture on the right. Let’s fix this!

There is a way to soften the water in your house by using the right tool!  That’s what we will show you in this article!  Plus the question… water conditioners vs. Water softeners: Which is Better?  Read on and I will tell you…Water conditioners vs. Water softeners: Which is Better?

What is hard water?

Simply put, hard water is water with high concentrations of minerals like calcium and magnesium and other dissolved minerals. these minerals leave noticeable deposits on your dishes and shower doors but, the most damage is done to the inside of your water pipes!  One of the less-known effects of hard water is that it prevents soap from lathering which causes soap scum!

Hardness is a property of water that is not a health concern, but it can be a nuisance. Hard water can cause mineral buildup in plumbing, fixtures, and water heaters, and poor performance of soaps and detergents. (Credit: USGS, Public domain)

What is a water conditioner?

A water conditioner (sometimes called a descaler or salt-free conditioner) stops the water from forming scales in your pipes and fixtures, but it doesn’t remove the minerals.  It does this by changing the ions in the water so the scales don’t cling to the inside of your pipes or faucets.  Water conditioners are a good solution for some homes with water scaling problems Plus. they can last for many years with little maintenance!

  • Reduces scaling in pipes
  • Easer to install with less maintenance
  • doesn’t waste any water
  • an inexpensive solution to water conditioning
  • does not remove minerals that cause water spots
  • does not fix the soap lathering or water quality issues

What is a water softener?

Water softening is the removal of calcium, magnesium, and certain other metal cations in hard water. The resulting soft water requires less soap for the same cleaning effort, as soap is not wasted bonding with calcium ions. Soft water also extends the lifetime of plumbing by reducing or eliminating scale build-up in pipes and fittings. Courtesy of Wikipedia
